What is the overall benefits of Blogging for learning English?

1.             I think benefits of Blogging for learning English are:

1.   Improve my English writing skill. For me as English student. Blogging is a part from learning. When I want to post something in my blog, I must write, I write as much as I can. Make posting in my blog is my writing practice. Although, I’m not sure that my writing in my blog is grammatical correctly, but I’m sure that every body can flow my writing easily.

2.   Give information to others. I think blog is not website but by blog we can also share our idea. Learner can study by looking good blog as references for learning English, I do it too.

3.   Share idea. As student, sometimes we do not know our writing or our idea right or wrong, we just write because we are not English master as our ability. By writing in blog, other people can read our writing. When he/ she know about our mistakes, he/she can correct it by giving comment at below of our posting or if he/she has another idea about one topic that we discuss in our blog posting he/she can write it in comment box. That’s why by write in blog it can improve our English writing skill and we can share our idea with others.

4.   Keep up-to-date. Blogging is keeping me up-to-date with the latest information that I know, include in learning English. When I know something about English in my English class. I can write it in my blog.

What is podcast?

•  A podcast is an internet audio.
• A podcast is an audio file that anyone can create using a computer, microphone, and a software program.
•  Podcast are radio shows or other audio programs available for download via the Internet.
• Podcast is a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar programme, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player.

   
 The usefulness of podcast for learning English

                                 

1.   The podcasts will help students to improve their English vocabulary and pronunciation and their listening skills.

2.   Podcasting can be used to distribute lecture material. This material is available as a review or if students or teachers are absent, a podcast can serve to distribute the missed information.

3.   Podcasting can empower students by giving them opportunities to create and publish for a real audience and facilitate recording and distributing news broadcasts, developing brochures, creating or listening to teachers’ notes, recording lectures distributed directly to students’ MP3 players, recording meeting and conference notes, supporting student projects and interviews, and providing oral history archiving and on-demand distribution

4.   Using podcasting in contextualized language learning (as opposed to simple pronunciation drills) can also be useful in that it allows teachers to contextualize pronunciation and create meaningful tasks, rather than simply have students repeat and practice lists of words or sounds.

5.   By using podcast, students can record themselves or native speakers and then engage in listening practice as they focus on pronunciation, grammar use or intonation. So student’s listening, pronunciation, grammar, and intonation skills would be improved.

6.   Learning by using podcast is not bore. Why? Because podcast is not only provide one category but many categories in podcast such as news, food and drink, music, movies, business, education, languages and etc. we can choose one category that we want to listen via internet, and if we want to save it into our iPod or laptop we can download it. Podcast is really interesting for learning especially for learning English.  

7.   Podcasts also remained available as references for students to revisit and work on individual pronunciation issues.

8.   By using podcast, we know about latest information about English learning. May be about website that is good for learning English by listens language categories in podcast or by listen news in podcast. All about that make we keep up-to-date about English world and about many things.  

9.   Learning by podcast is easy. Most of podcast formatted by MP3, so if can’t listen it by online and we want to download it. We can put podcast file in our laptop or PC then we listen by using winamp-application, or we can put it in our mobile phone or our mp3 players. It is easy! For learning English actually, most of podcast are in English language. So whatever we listen in podcast is useful for us as English student.
